It's that time of the year again!!! The new Rescue Beauty Lounge collection unveiling!!!
I couldn't hide my excitement even if I wanted to and truth is I've missed RBL and this whole frenzy so much that I've been digging through my stash and wearing these square little bottles more than usual lately.
"May my goods come out greater than my own, every time I walk towards your path. Please usher my footfalls, guide me to be where to be, what to do, what to say, what to write, and to whom. Let me embrace every moment you've given to me with clear vision, strength, peace, love and grace. Let me be with you every moment to moment in your magical kingdom. Let me be at your service, my heart is open to you and use me for something greater than my own. Thank you for your abundance, blessings, and your love. Thank you for this beautiful gift of today."
This is my daily mantra and how I greet each day. I subconsciously and consciously recite it from that exquisite place sandwiched between my sleepy-dreamy blur and the lustering lights of a brand new morning. It took me many years of seeking, practicing, and learning to reach this point in my life. I feel stripped naked, revealing and sharing my private daily mantra, but this is my story and also the story that is within all of us: we are all emoting.
I’m convinced that if one is ready to truly learn, this generous universe paves the road in front of us. The trick is knowing when to admit the desire to take that first baby step.
Sadly for me, my desire to take this first step came five years ago, when my beloved mother-in-law suddenly left this earth. Our sunny, delightful home came under a dark gray rolling fog that thickened with our gloom. Lingering questions struck me during this time: Can emotional darkness be contagious? Are we enjoying this sorrowful place just a tad too much? It was time for me to open my own eyes and to start my first step toward my own path and to seek my true self. I became an observer of my own life.
I read self-help books and came across many sparklingly wise words and phrases that we're told should accompany our daily lives. But by painfully peeling the layers off of my own ego, I learned that I’m responsible for my own emotions and the energy I give out.
My everyday practice is simple: I've stopped labeling myself. I’m not so volved that I levitate in the lotus position in the snowy mountains wearing my flowing pair of tai chi pants. I process and feel every emotion, just like everyone on this earth, but I keep my daily ego in check by knowing that I'm responsible for what I give out and what I receive.
No matter what the circumstances, these are the seven words I repeat persistently:
Thank You
"Because I'm my own worst critic, I first thank myself, then I thank
others, and lastly, I thank the universe. I know that I am loved and,
even in negative circumstances, in order to grow, lessons must be
learned. It may be tough in the beginning, but when I close my eyes
in gratitude and start with a bare, neutral nude, a cast of beatific"
Thank You is a warm based nude infused with a delicate pink shimmer that looks beautiful on the nails. It's everything I hoped Chanel Beige would be : a nice true neutral base (not too yellow!) and a subtle but still visible shimmer. I used 2 coats here, thin on the first and medium on the second, and easily reached full opacity. I'd say it's a 2 to 3 coater depending on your nail length and practice. Application tip : wait between coats.
Be Humble
"I know that I can't be too self-congratulatory or judge others. I always
remind myself to stay modest. I try to grey out my ego with this taupe
lightness and allow hope to float in pink, blue, and lavender
shimmers."
Be Humble is a light and warm greige with a faint pink, purple and mainly blue shimmer. I really love taupes and although the shimmer is very subtle in this one, I still loved wearing it as it definitely added a little extra something. It applied like a dream in 2 thin coats, making it a perfect and true 2 coater.
Forgiveness
"To forgive and to ask for forgiveness is the ultimate emotional
cleanser, but why is it so difficult for me to open my heart and admit
that I'm wrong? Guilt and regret are useless emotions. When I forgive
someone, or even when I forgive myself, I step into the serene
opaqueness of this dove-lavender color and then I am able to let go
and move on."
Forgiveness is a light dusty purple crelly. It's beautiful, classy, sophisticated and muted at the same time. Love it! This one's also a true 2 coater so you're obviously looking at 2 coats plus topcoat.
Smile
"First, I always smile at the sky at least once a day. It is a privilege to
be in this universe. When I lift my face to the sun and bask in its
gloriousness, I blink my eyes and see this dazzling red light, a neutral
red, and full of sunny, shimmery goodness. Like a smile, this color is
contagious."
Smile is a super bright red crelly base with a faint gold shimmer. It seems to me like it has hints of pink and coral and I must say that I have a thing for this type of reds! Perfect happy color and a perfect prep for Summer! The shimmer didn't translate on the nails that much but I found it so bright and eye-catching that I didn't really mind. Formula was pure perfection and I used 2 easy, self leveling, coats plus topcoats here.
Pause
"Violet is the color of the chakra that marks the union of the soul with
the body, mind, and divine consciousness. With this come bliss,
satisfaction, and rest. Being in the present moment is probably the
hardest challenge I have. When I stare at the depth of this multifaceted mid-violet
silky shimmer and be at one with this color and
silky shimmer and be at one with this color and
nothing else, then I know I am in my present moment."
Pause is a medium purple muted base with the most glorious shimmer. I don't know where to begin. I've tried and own many purples but it just stole my heart away the minute I applied it! Formula was a bit thicker than the previous ones but it was so pigmented that it could almost pass for a one coater. This is 2 thin coats plus topcoat.
Become One
"I imagine that one brilliantly sunny day in April when I looked up to
see the sun flickering through a cascade of innocent leaves. This opaque
green takes me to those young; verdant leaves in the spring
green takes me to those young; verdant leaves in the spring
and reminds me that nature is our best teacher of life cycles."
Become One is a bright spring green crelly. There's something really peaceful about this green, it reminds me of nature somehow. It's another "almost one coater". I have yet to be disappointed in RBL formula! You're looking at 2 coats plus topcoat.
Turn It Around
"Once I understood the universe's law of polarity, everything made
perfect sense. Negatives can’t exist without positives. If I never allow
pain to wash over me, then joy becomes meaningless. From this
color's dark mossy green pond, a vivid, glittering cast of copper
shimmer welcomes me back to joy."
Turn It Around is my absolute favorite from the Emoting Me collection. When I unpacked it I thought I would love it but it's nothing compared to how I felt when I applied it. I mean it's STUNNING!!! Deep, dark, dusty green with a bright and complex shimmer made of gold and copper particles. Instant love, I tell you! Formula was on the thin side but it looked perfect in 2 coats.
Overall :
I'll make it quick : I love RBL!!!

I LOVE RBL and I LOVE your swatches <3!!!
ReplyDeleteTurn It Around is sooo, sooo amazing! But I love them all!
ReplyDeletewooooow, i love the hot pink!
ReplyDeleteWow... Some of your swatches look like completely different colors than the swatches at Nails and Noms. Smile in particular looks pinky red here, and orange there. Thank ou looked completely different, too. I like Smile better if it's more like your swatches, but I'd prefer Thank You if it's more like hers. Now I don't know what to do. Grrrrrfff!
ReplyDeleteI know how frustrating it can be. Us bloggers always try to get as close to life as possible with what we have : camera, lighting,... Sometimes swatches can look very different indeed :(
DeleteI always color correct mine to look as close to life as possible but it's not an easy task, especially with neutrals because then my skin tone can make them pull a different color and there's nothing I can do about it, it's just how it looks on me and that's what I'm trying to translate on my blog.
I hope this helps a bit...
xx Sam.
No offense, but Nails and Noms swatches of Turn It Around look very color accurate IMO. I understand its very time consuming and often difficult to do accurate swatches but these look super enhanced. A few ladies on MUA Nail board have also posted shots of TiA and it looked nothing like the pic above. The green base is much more muted and the copper shimmer isnt as pronounced. I dont know if its a lighting issue from using a light box or what but I'm a little hesitant to purchase the 3 I wanted now after buying TiA and having not look anything like this pics here.
DeleteGorgeous swatches, there are some beautiful colors!
ReplyDeleteI do not own any RBL shades- but your gorgeous nails give me grabby-hands :D These look great on you! When my nails grow up, they want to be just like yours :D
ReplyDeleteThese are all really pretty shades! I like Pause and Turn It Around the most, but I also really like Thank You.
ReplyDeleteOh wow the red one is stunning, too bad their international delivery cost the same price as the nail polish itself.
ReplyDeleteWhoa they're GORGEOUS!!
ReplyDeleteOMG I'm dying here!!!!!

ReplyDeleteAs usual, amazing swatches! And Pause is probably my favorite one!

Thanks <3
Cant decide which one's my fav, gorgeous colours.
ReplyDeleteYour nails always look perfect. Gorgeous. I love all these colors. Was wondering which, if any, base and top coats you use.
ReplyDeleteOutstanding swatches! These beauties are just too expensive to justify spending precious resources on, especially when the likes of Elevation Polish exist.
ReplyDeleteThe disclosure of products provided for review was almost missed, I really appreciate the posts that indicate at the beginning "press sample".
