FNUG Holographic range for 2012

Glitter, scattered, linear, thin, coarse, smooth, glossy,... So many different holographic effects now coexist on the shelves, but to the purists, the true, strongest, have to be the smooth linear ones.

FNUG, the high end Danish based nail polish company, is now extending its lines to the global market and, to our great pleasure, has very recently released holographics!

Futuristica,  Fantastica, Psychedelic and the aqua base :

Futuristica
strong sky blue linear holo

Fantastica
strong pastel green linear holo

Psychedelic
strong silver linear holo

Formula on all 3 of these was exactly what you'd expect from a smooth linear holographic : perfectly even over an aqua base but a patchy mess over a regular base coat so the aqua base is definitely a must!

I used 2 coats of each over the aqua base and POW!!! The strongest linear holos I have ever laid my eyes on!!!

The rainbow is so strong and sharp, it's almost blinding... And I swatched them under my regular OTT lamp that dulls so holo effect, so I can't even begin to imagine how they would look like in full sun :O

I didn't use topcoat in these swatches, Fnug Top Model Top Coat is supposed not to attenuate the effect but I found that it did very slightly. I would definitely still use it for everyday as it was very subtle but for review purposes, I wanted them unaltered.

I thought I had strong silver holos, China Glaze, Make up Store, Gosh, Jessica, even Chanel Holographic (this one being the strongest so far)... but FNUG put them all to shame! I've pulled a couple to show you how they all compare :

As you can see, Gosh and Jessica are very similar, Chanel is stronger but they all look feeble in comparison. In conclusion, I'll just say : you need them, they're all MUST HAVES in my book!

  11. I should have put on sunglasses to examine your swatches close-up, now I'm probably having holo-blindness ;-))) I love each and every one of . And your swatches are immaculate. I also liked your comparisons, since it is not easy for me to imagine the differences between silver holo shades - thank you!!!

  13. I would have liked to see them compared to the Layla Hologram polishes, though I believe the holo effect is stronger with the Fnug ones.
I'm trying to convince myself I don't need these polishes but.......

  21. Do you know of any alternative aqua bases? I'll take your word that I need it, but I wonder if I could find one that is a bit cheaper than $15-20. I don't mind spending that much on the holos, but it is a bit difficult to do on a base coat.

Thanks for your help! (Also, I am a new follower of your blog. I love your work!)

  22. @Dixie There are many brands that offer aqua bases : Nfu Oh, Make Up Store,... They might be cheaper. I've also noticed that the Essence Studio Nails XXL nail thickener works great too! It's not as perfect but a decent and cheaper alternative. I hope this helps! xx

  25. These are great...now if I can just convince the hubby that 23.00 is reasonable for one bottle of polish :)

  26. These are beautiful!! Already spent my budget for polish. Pricing not so bad for me...with shipping works out to about $16 per bottle, but my wallet says no right now. :(
