Opi Germany collection for Fall Winter 2012 : Part 2

Here they are, the OPI Germany shimmers!
For once, I can say that I've kept the best for last haha. In case you've missed part 1, please follow this link.

Deutsch You Want Me Baby? is a rich and vibrant orange metallic shimmer with a strong red tint. It glows, it's dark, it's perfect for Fall! I can definitely see myself wearing it a lot. Formula was wonderful with a perfect 2 coats coverage.

Danke-Shiny Red is your typical metallic red shimmer. It's shinny and gleaming but not so original. If you don't have any metallic red, I'd definitely recommend it as it's easily available and has a perfect almost-one-coater formula. This is 2 coats plus topcoat.

Suzi & the 7 Düsseldorfs. Really? I don't know what to think about this name haha. Anyway, it's a warm based purple shimmer that I love in the swatches but not so much on me. I'm a purple lover but this specific one is my purple nemesis LOL. Formula was nice but a little sheer. I used 2 careful coats but a third one might ne necessary.

Unfor-greta-bly Blue is a medium blue, leaning teal, metallic shimmer. This one actually leaves a little bit of brushstrokes but it's not that bad in real life. It still is a beautiful shade of blue. Great formula and two coats coverage.

German-icure by OPI. Dark, vampy, mysterious, glorious, blackened around the edges brown based red. I can't even say how happy that OPI went back to the basics with this very vampy! It reminds me of all of the other OPIs that I love so much and pull out when I need some polish comfort. So you get the point, you need it. Formula was amazing with a two coats coverage and a natural shine.

OPI Every Month Is Oktoberfest is hands down my absolute favorite of this collection and probably one of my biggest nail crushes this year. Ink blue base with a very dark predominant red shimmer that match so perfectly, creating THE perfect vampy shimmer. I wouldn't change a thing about it! Formula was also a perfect two coater.

Overall :
A lot of must haves in this part of the Germany collection, if you ask me. My absolute must haves : Every Month is Oktoberfest and Deutsch You Want Me Baby? but I also have a thing for German-icure by OPI and Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine! Pfeeewww...That was a lot of ponctuation marks :O

So what do you think about this half of the collection? Are you a shimmer or a creme girl? Do you wear dark shades and vampies?

  1. Oktoberfest and Deutsch are my favs...I bought Suzie and the 7 and don't think I can pull it off - too much red maybe in it - cannot quite put my finger on why it's not right on me. I am leaning toward getting Nien now but I have other deep gray creams and not sure I have to have another despite this one has either a green or blue lean depending on who's describing it. Greta is too teal for me...love looking at 'em, cannot wear a teal to save myself unless it's a cream - they look horrible on me. I like the red but not overly - a tad disappointed as I thought it would be the one I loved the most. Germanicure is a tad too dark - like it but loose all the goodies in it unless I am in really strong light - but that's OK for a lot of occasions and I will probably toss some old ones and keep this one instead. Now...do I need Nein?

  2. @beachgal Do you "need" it, probably not... But if you keep asking yourself, it's probably that you do want it. In this case, I can only tell you what I'd tell myself : "better safe than sorry" haha. But I'm a collector and I never purge so I really wouldn't know what applies to you, really. The hard part of being a nail polish blogger is the responsibility we have to our readers to try and publish swatches as color accurate as possible. But it's no exact science and cameras, editing softwares, monitors,... all have their limits. I'd say if you can go and have a good look at it for yourself, maybe you should do that, it will most definitely help you decide. xx Sam.

  3. Love your swathces! I didn't think I'd be very interested in this collection but I'm pleasantly surprised. I don't have any vampies in my collection and I'd love to pick up Oktoberfest and German-icure. Deutsch You Want Me Baby looks great too! I'm usually a creme girl but maybe I'll go vampy in the fall. :)

  11. Compared to all of the other collections featuring nations, I still think this is the one that LEAST resembles its nation. It's just not Germany; at least, the Germany my mom knew and I have tons and tons and tons of photographs of as I was 2 1/2 years old when I moved from there. It's like, "Suzi, you did so great with Holland, the US, Hong Kong, Spain.....what's up with failing with my country???" :/

I do love Every Month is Oktoberfest and I'll probably pick that one up. It's definitely probably the only one German-like. German-icure by OPI is probably another one.

They had a lot to work with, you know? Neuschwanstein, the Black Forest, the Bavarian Alps, Berlin, the colors of Oktoberfest, the cuckoo clocks, there's the colors of traditional nutcrackers, the beautiful nearly preserved towns in Southern Bavaria (I was born in Bamberg, the only town that wasn't bombed in WWI or WWII), there's Nuremberg, Rothemberg ob der Tober that boasts a Christmas Museum (the Weihnachtsmuseum), a Medieval Torture/Criminal museum (Kriminalmuseum)....heck, they could have done a collection alone on Bavaria! It's sort of a missed opportunity.

    Just my feelings, of course.

  12. your photo's are perfect!! do you use a light box??
I was initially going to get this entire collection, but then when it came out in the stores I had a good look at the colours and I have similar shades (in OPI as well), so thinking I'll pick and choose which ones I want out of this collection.
