China Glaze New Bohemian Radiant Luster Chromes

There's always a new collection to look forward to from China Glaze. Actually this might very well be one of my favorite things when it comes to this brand : the New Bohemian must be the seventh collection released this year!

The six shades that constitute this collection are all metallic, duochromey shimmers. Some very duochrome and some barely so. Formula was on the sheer side and opacity built up in 2 to 3 coats with the exception of Deviantly Daring but I'll get back to that. Drying time was ultra fast and shine very good. I didn't apply topcoat in any of these swatches.

Swanky Silk. Rosey nude to gold duochrome. The color shifting effect is strong and this polish is a huge surprise for me : not at all the type of color I would go for but I love it on me! 2 coats here.

Rare & Radiant. Gold to green duochrome with a strong effect. Obviously a Chanel Peridot dupe with a China Glaze price tag and great formula. What's not to love? 2 coats here.

Unpredictable. Green to Blue duochrome. The color change is less pronounced on this one. I think that this might be very similar to Missha HGR01 and Kiko 396 ( Duo-Chrome Summer LE). 2 coats plus topcoat too.

Deviantly Daring. Pause... I love love love this polish! The duochrome is very subtle but the amazing formula and exceptional saturation totally make up for that in my eyes. It's a gorgeous and rich turquoise metallic shimmer with a one coat opacity. I used 2 coats here because I was afraid it wouldn't look perfect in picture but for real life, one coat would definitely have been enough for me.

Want My Bawdy. Dark blurple shimmer. I think I can see a tiny bit of duochrome in the bottle but on the nail it's nonexistant in my eyes.  Very close to OPI Into the Night from the Spiderman collection. This was the sheerest of the bunch and required 3 coats.

No Plain Jane. Warm purple to grey duochrome. In the bottle it looks Purple to green but on the nail you basically just see dusty edges. I used 2 coats here.

Overall :
Like I said I love duochromes but I can't help but think that half of the collection has already been done multiple times in the last year or so. Considering the China Glaze quality, wide distribution and retail price, I'm sure that a lot of customers will be happy with it anyway. As for the other half, I'm totally in love with it so you will not hear me complain ;-)

What do you think about this collection? Did you get any of them? Do you own Peridot or one of its multiple dupes? Or maybe more haha.

  1. I picked up 4 of the 6. I have the purple one on right now and I love it. (Haven't tried the others yet!). Love your swatches and I LOVE the new way you are doing your pictures! I've always been a fan of your nails and love seeing more of them :)

  2. Your pictures are stunning! They make me want to buy this collection even though I actually don't like it very much haha!
I already have Peridot and Deborah Lippmann Sugar Daddy... The turquoise looks beautiful, but I have an H&M very similar (with very strong color shifting effect)... So I think I'll pass this time!
I understand that there's a place in the market for dupes... I only wish they made more new shades too!
    Thanks for the beautiful photos!!

  4. I've been hoping to see some nice swatches of this collection, and you truly delivered. These are the best swatches of this collection I've seen, and now I'm glad that I have these one their way to me. Thank you.

  5. Holy moly these are beyond georgeous, your nails look as if dipped in liquid metal!!! I got myself three of them but not the Peridot dupe. While I love the color it is unfortunately one of the most unflattering colors in the Northern Hemisphere for me - BUT I enjoy it each and every single time I see it swatched by someone like you <3 - Christine

  6. These and the OPI Spiderman collection were my really must haves for the year, I first saw both right at start of 2012 in promo pics. INow swatches are coming out of these the same thing has happened as with the OPI. My thoughts are "meh" they had so much potential, but if I bught them I would be disappointed. So they rare a no-buy for me!

  8. I love the swatches of this collection and I'm tempted to own the lot. But.... I already have two of the Peridot dupes and possibly Swanky Silk and Unpredictable (I think Misslyn's Peacock collection has those duped) and one that's between Want Me Bawdy and Deviantly Daring -- a teal to purple duochrome again from Misslyn. :)

  10. I only bought a couple so far but I am loving them. Even though we've seen them before in other collections, I love how cheap China Glaze is.

  11. I was not sure about Swanky Silk but now I want it!! I bet Deviantly Daring would be amazing for stamping :D

I have Missha HGR01 and you're right, they seem really close! I don't have Peridot but one of its "dupe" Douglas released last year. it's not a real dupe because the base color is warmer in the Douglas polish.

I've just noticed you changed the design of your blog title! it's pretty!

  12. The swatches are perfect as usual! I loved Deviantly Daring. Rare and Radiant looks like a dupe for OPI's Just Spotted the Lizard from the spiderman collection

  14. I was playing with several of these the other day, and it wasn't until I was taking them off that I realized what the collection reminds me of: anodized niobium. Which is FREAKING GORGEOUS and so deliciously creamy-colorful-shiny.

Gonna have to pick up Want My Bawdy and No Plain Jane as well, just complete the set for me haha! I was trying to be good and cut back on polish buys...

  19. Fab swatches as always! The collection is a little heavy on brushstrokes for me (and a little light on the duochrome shift), but I can't take my eyes off Deviantly Daring. ;)
