Rescue Beauty Lounge Bruised Swatches & Review

Happy 4th of July everyone!!!

While I should probably have posted a celebration nail art today, I chose otherwise because it's the official launch of the Rescue Beauty Lounge GOMM collection and I wanted to show my support to Ji Baek, the creator of the brand who, I know, has put a lot of love, passion and hard work into this project. If you're not familiar with the latter events, you can read about them in her latest blog post here.

Bruised is a mysterious maroon hued plum creme with a perfect formula. It's absolutely gorgeous on the nails, very ladylike and unique. I used 2 easy, self levelling coats in the swatches below.

We all make mistakes and actually I think that we need them to become better selves. While I always avoid drama like the plague, I have decided to write this post today. I have done it with the Ciaté/Caviar Manicure issue and I am doing it again.
Because it's important to show support to the people we know, be it only from behind screens, and acknowledge their pain. Empathy and compassion are the strongest healing weapons when it comes to a bruised heart.

  1. It looks very pretty and flawless.

  2. I read in the comments that the museum who sent the C&D ironically *praised* the polish collection on their Facebook months ago. I hope Rescue can use it to take those money-hungry jerks to court!

Also, as a side note: I still refuse to buy Ciate products, and I encourage others to boycott them too. ;)

  3. Honestly, I'm in 4th of July manicure overload, so this was a welcome change.

Also I had no idea what was going on with RBL, so thanks for sharing. I have deep lust for Sante Fe from the GOMM collection, thanks to you too :)

  6. Wow what a beautiful polish and a heart-rending turn of events. Honestly after all that hard work to have these types of things happen. Something very similar happened recently with Lush Lacquer and their formerly named polish called Dippin' Dots. They were forced to do a name change because of a now defunct chain. I hope Ji hangs in there and things will look up for her!

  7. The whole thing is so farfetched and dreamt up! I don't know about the American legislation much, but in Russia i don't think the museum would have been even allowed to trademark an artist's name. I'd like to do a major in intellectual property in 2 years (i finished my first year at law school this year), so these events touch my heart not only as a polish lover, but as a lawyer to be as well. It's obvious that that museum owners are just butthurt and wants money and publicity and use any method out there to acquire it. I think i'll bring up this topic on a seminar this year

  10. I am beyond a sucker for a great cream - when I find them and the color is so ME, I never part with 'em...this looks like it needs to go on my RBL list. It has that kind of lasting powder in the color that it will be wearable 5 yrs from now (if there is any left in the bottle by then that is).

  13. This color is gorgeous. What happened to Ji and RB:L just sucks, especially since the collection and the idea behind it is so so gorgeous.

  14. I read about what happened and I just don't get it. This was a beautiful collection, I don't see why anyone would be offended by someone being creatively inspired by an artist. I just don't. Oh well.
