Wouldn't you just love having your dream nail polish into this beautifully epurated RBL bottle?
This is exactly what the Fan Collection is about. This is how four amazing shades were created, based on the life, love and imagination of outstanding ReBeLs.
Today I'll be sharing with you three of them : Aqua Lily, Halycon and IKB : 2012.
Aqua Lily is the creation of Kaydi-Kat inspired by her mother's turquoise birthstone.
Soft and yet vibrant, dusty and yet saturated, I don't think I have ever seen anything like it. Its unexpected shimmer, beautiful mix of blues and pinks gives a nice and subtle glow without altering the turquoise base. I loved Aqua Lily when I saw the very first swatches online on the blogs of Michelle, Kelly, Scrangie and Rie and I love it even more now that I can see it for myself!
Halcyon was imagined by Danielle, born from her fascination with succulent flowers.
The second it was out of its box, instant love! A beautiful muted sage green infused with color changing, metallic looking, shimmer particles. From copper to hot pink, really complex and versatile, this might very well be my favorite, be it only because of its uniqueness.
IKB : 2012 was dreamt by Laura, longing to wear Yves Klein’s signature blue on her nails.
It's a deep, vibrant and extremely saturated dark blue with the slightest purple hint. A really fabulous color, as vivid as blue could be. Not exactly a jelly but not quite a cream either, a "crelly" maybe?
Formula wise, Aqua Lily and Halcyon were flawless. Two-coaters, well pigmented and self levelling, they applied like a dream. IKB : 2012 seemed like it would be a bit streaky on the first coat but it evened out with a careful second coat.
For these swatches I used topcoat as they tend to dry a bit dull and a different basecoat than usual, CND Stickey. I've had some bubbling with my regular Nail Tek Foundation II (maybe it's the "non B3F" formula that doesn't work well with RBL...)
In conclusion, I'll just say that I absolutely love this collection!
All of these polishes are so nice! I love the shimmer but that inky blue is pretty amazing as well :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sam! Fabulous swatches, as usual! I´m soooo happy I could get these "babies" , at the few minutes (literally) they were available the second time at RBL´s site. Thanks to Ji, who is a doll and let us know at Facebook. Thanks again, Ji! And, OMG, Halcyon on your nails. I almost despised it, because I have so many sage or military greens (is what it is?)but I´m glad I didn´t, it´s really unique! Bisous :)
ReplyDeleteAqua Lily is absolutely breathtaking!
ReplyDeletewhat top coat do you generally use? sometimes i have a problem with my seche vite after maybe 2 months of use. i don't know if it's because of WHERE i buy it from or what.
ReplyDelete@Brittney Yon I do use seche too. Except with linear holos, not to dull them I use INM out the door instead.
ReplyDeleteIt's normal that your bottle of seche becomes more thick after a couple of months of use because its solvents evaporate. You need to get a bottle of seche "restore" it's a thinner that contains Toluene (just like seche vite). If you use regular thinner, it will not work properly. I hope this helps! xx
I am nuts over Aqua Lilly...and Halycon also is pretty but sort of fades into the mush of that range of greens that have been pushed out since Chanel's Jade a # of yrs back. I have to be careful with RBL's as they will tempt me - then I order them sight unseen other than on blogs - I get them and then am disappointing. Cult Nails does that to me with a lot of their colors...but RBL raised their prices which already were high for me. But I think I do need to break down and buy Aqua Lilly before it's sold out. In the past the fan made colors are not brought back when they sell out. However they did bring back Scrangie last summer - not much was there and it sold out of course.
ReplyDeleteThat blue is supposed to have copper flecks floating in it! They are in the bottle but don't translate to the nail If you like the bright blue on this one - you need to get the RBL Dead Calm - it's even better in the blue category. @Yasmin
ReplyDeleteFYI - your photos are just amazing. I think I put Scrangies up on my Pinterest - yours are far better - really brilliant lighting. Bravo!@beachgal
ReplyDelete@beachgal Hi Beachgal, sadly Aqua Lily is already sold out! :(
ReplyDelete@beachgal I'm blushing like a tomatoe right now. Thanks but I need to say that Scrangie rules and will always rule! xx
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore all three of these. Aqua Lily was definitely a favourite, but I too noticed that it dulled a bit with topcoat. Boo. I had a lot of trouble with IKB though. My coats were either too thin and streaky or far too thick, it was so hard to find middle ground. Tempted to add a bit of thinner to it, but I'm very concerned i'll ruin the lacquer.
ReplyDeleteYou have the most amazing nails! I feel like anything you swatch, whether it be the crappiest polish ever or the most expensive one out there, it always looks so amazing and drool-worthy! Bravo on these! I'm even more in love than I already was with this collection, just from your swatches!
ReplyDelete@beachgal
ReplyDeleteThere are no copper flakes in IKB; Cuprum is the one with copper flakes - also from this fan collection
@Sewwy I agree IKB takes some extra attention to reveal its beauty. Thinner should be totally fine as long as it's B3F (only butyl and ethyl acetate). xx
ReplyDeletegorgeous swatches! I am with you for Halcyon. it is super wearable but also so unique. I was always tempted by similar colors but they fell flat when I tried them on. But with Halcyon, that RBL shimmer keeps it so feminine, chic and flattering.
ReplyDelete@FashionPolish I totally agree with beachgal, Sam, you rock!
ReplyDeleteI have AL and IKB and yeah, they both need topcoats. However they're both so so gorgeous. I wish I had gotten Halcyon. Only regret.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful. Cannot wait to get these!
ReplyDeleteI got AL the second time it was on stock!! It' s beautiful of course, I just wish the shimmer was more visble on the nails.
ReplyDeleteAll three look perfect on you!
Aqua Lily is SO beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love it the first one and the last one! So perfect!
ReplyDeleteThat blue is so bright! Its fabulous! I love it!
ReplyDeleteCrazy beautiful swatches!! Your nails and lighting (and application!!) are simply perfect <3
ReplyDeleteI like the whole Fan collection. The only shade I don´t need is Halcyon because I think I own similar polishes and this one seems not very attractive to me. You swatches are amazing as always :)
ReplyDeleteI'm actually very surprised that Ji doesn't send you advance samples. Your swatches are always top notch....like the best of the best, seriously.
ReplyDeleteAnd I did manage to scoop up IKB:2012, but I couldn't afford Aqua-Lily as well. I think it's gone now and will never return either, which is sad. It's really pretty. *sigh*
Wow. Great colors. They are really nice.
ReplyDeleteOMG!! These are super amazing and they perfectly match my preferences!!
ReplyDeleteYour swatches are, as usual, stunning!
ReplyDeleteAqua Lily.... So gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThe three colors are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love them!
i like the first and the last one :-)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to get mine, looking forwards to Halcyon the most!
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous! I really want Aqua Lily and Halcyon.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful swatched Sam! I have IKB:2012 on my toes right now and it makes a KILLER pedi polish. ^_^
ReplyDeleteAmazing swatches, Sam! ♥
ReplyDeleteThese are all sooo pretty, but the polish in the bottles are always better...why that da*n sparkle does not cluster and twinkles on the nail as well??? if i could see the same effect Aqua lily has in the bottle right on the nail i could have almost a heart collapse.
ReplyDeleteI own these plus Cuprum, the 4th from this collection. How is it that you make these swatches look so amazing every time??? I am so wishing I knew your secret! You are my photo/mani swatch idol!
ReplyDeleteHasn't anyone noticed that IKB does not look like the blogger swatches at all in real life? It's a dark blurple color and is really unattractive. For someone who cares about nail color so much, Ji should have made sure all buyers got the correct color.
ReplyDeleteI love the slight shimmers!
ReplyDeleteEeek, your swatches just killed me - again. I really really love this collection and I was tempted to preorder them but for $20 a bottle I resisted the urge. Now I wish I had ordered them while they were still available :(
ReplyDeleteA little late to the party, but just wanted to tell you for thrilled I am to see these swatches!! I was crossing my fingers that you would get the Fan Collection so I could see Aqua Lily on you :) ... Looks like you've been added to Ji's blogger crew. Woo hoo for you!
