The House of Yves Saint Laurent launches a tribute to the famous dear Mr Yves Saint Laurent Leopard print with its new Manicure Couture collection "Les Nuits Fauves".
The Manucure Couture duos will be available in 4 different shades :
N°1 Griffe Dorée : basic gold for the night
N°2 Griffe d'Argent : grey rock metal
N°3 Griffe de Sable : a trendy ochre
N°4 Griffe de Jade : a casual khaki
Griffe Dorée
First up, Griffe Dorée on its own. A rather cool toned metallic gold with minimum brushstrokes . It applied like a dream in just one coat and dried in a flash.
With the black "textured", no topcoat :
And with topcoat :
Griffe d'Argent :
Intense, fast drying, one coater, silver metallic. A bit more brushstrokey than Griffe Dorée but less visible in real life than in the swatches.
With the black "textured", no topcoat :
And with topcoat :
Griffe de Sable
A deliciously creamy taupe shade. Easy application, glossy finish and 2 coats for perfect coverage. A tad warmer than Chanel Particuliere.
With the black "textured" and topcoat :
Overall :
Crackle ODs aside, I really like the effect these sets create, especially the gold and silver prior to topcoat. The black texture is nicely formulated, flows easily, and a quick and thin coat is sufficient to achieve an even and opaque distribution of "cracks".
I also love the base color of Griffe de Sable but I might be biased for I love taupes in general.
I didn't get the last set Griffe de Jade for review and sadly it's the one I was the most curious about. I will try and post it as soon as I can ;-)
The Manucure Couture duos will be available online on YSLbeauty.com and in selected boutiques and retail for 30€ / $30 / £24, 2 x 6ml/0.2fl.oz.
Release is scheduled for February 13th.

wow that makes a really nice shatter!
ReplyDeleteI really like YSL and Dior polishes. Am surprised they got into the shatter/crackles this late in the game if they even were going to go there. They do look smooth and better than most once you put the clear topper on them. Nothing too noteworthy in the shades in this collection - have we not seen these everywhere? I think I expect more from YSL in terms of colors. Gold and Silver base shades are so tired right now esp this close after the holiday. I don't see large sales for this really tired color collection.
ReplyDeleteWhoa, I'm super surprised by how many duos YSL is putting out this spring, not to mention the shatter! I do agree that the colors aren't super thrilling but it is a good crackle and I am interested to see the Griffe de Khaki duo. I feel so decadent when I get YSL polish; I've heard some describe is as tacky but I just love that shiny gold!
ReplyDeleteLove the compination of Griffe de Sable and the texture!! :D
ReplyDeleteThe base of Griffe de Sable is a beautiful shade. I have to admit, I'm a little surprised to see YSL venturing into the crackle arena.
ReplyDeleteThese are pretty but I am SOOOO over the whole shatter/crackle/whatever phase. Seriously. However, the green is kinda cool.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful crackle effects.
ReplyDeleteWow these colors are beautiful! I agree with you about the effects of the crackles. They look really great!
ReplyDeleteThey're totally playing on my favourite gold, silver, and black love! I think I'd enjoy the jade, too. I'm not too fond of the taupe, but then I'm just not that kinda person.
ReplyDeleteI'm really curious about the jade! I enjoy this collection, but the taupe is probably my least favourite.
ReplyDeleteReally nice colors, and although I'm a bit tired of crackle polish, this actually crackles in a very nice way!
ReplyDeleteThe black 'textured' polish seems to crack better than the one from the OPI shatter range.
ReplyDeleteOh I like the basic gold polish. Too bad gold doesnt match my skin colour, but it will match my nailpolish collection :D
ReplyDeleteThe taupy Griffe de Sable is amazing and also with the crackle on top it looks fantastic
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeletethat's funny that even YSL starts crackling
ReplyDeleteI fell in love with Griffe de Sable in the moment, I saw this picture. I don´t like the crackled coat, but it even looks good with it on top. Stunning color, thank you so much for the swatches.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Tina
I would love that Sable on its own-I never did like the crack effect. A reminder-that I mentioned you on my blog today-basically saying that your pictures make me want to buy everything you post! I really envy your pictures!
ReplyDeleteMe encantan como quedan los esmaltes crakeladores.
ReplyDeleteThe last combo is amazing!
ReplyDeleteThank you soooo much girls for all of your lovely comments!
ReplyDelete@Fingers I'll go check it out right away ;-) muuuaa!
Gold and black crackle, now that's something I have to try!
ReplyDeleteWhere could I order this from?
ReplyDeleteI think this is the best crackle effect I've seen. It really shows a lot of the base color.
