“Dior, this airy genius of our times whose magical name includes that of God and Gold”
"Dior, ce génie léger propre à notre temps dont le nom magique combine Dieu et Or"
Jean Cocteau
Rigour combined with excess: it was a prophetic name. From his first couture collections at the end of the 1940s, Christian Dior toyed with gold as the ultimate symbol of true luxury and dreams, as seen in his 1947 ―Champagne gold – silk Aladdin gown, in the 1949 – Pactole gown and so on.
Gold was synonymous with refinement, also appearing as a delicate highlighting touch on perfume bottles and the first lipsticks. Thus, the fascination with gold has continued over the decades. In whichever way it is used, gold is always symbolic of a doorway into a dream. And today the House of Dior is inviting us to a new enchanted experience with a flamboyant collection created by Tyen, where the colour gold provides the setting for Dior’s emblematic Rouge Dior lipcolors and Vernis nail varnishes. Gold reveals the potency of their shades, and like gold powder thrown into crystal fusion to colour it red, gold equals refinement; it glimmers with luxury.Les Rouges Or

Ok... Can I say it??? I can't wait to see these in real life!!!
Red and gold is my favorite combo for Christmas and Dior gave me everything I need for this time of the year :
The nail polishes look fantastic, of course the dark shimmers are right up my alley but this sheer gold meant to add sparkle to any color looks just fabulous.
I think I might even splurge and get the gold lipstick, a subtle transluscent gold flash for sexy lips! I can't possibly say no to that :D
availability : October 18th in corners, selected Boutiques and on Dior.com
How glorious and glamorous!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of gold polish, but I think it could actually work on me! I'm excited about this.
ReplyDeleteWow!!! I love the gold and the one next to the gold! I don't own any Dior polishes but I would love to own those two!

I was able to find this collection yesterday at a Macy's in a major upscale mall (relatively) nearby. The whole polish range is quite tempting, but I love gold so the color I came away with was Or Divin. It's not the BEST shade of gold for me but I love it anyway :). Exquis also looks great but I fear (and have already seen some online evidence) that it is very similar to China Glaze Ingrid and so I am trying to resist.
ReplyDeleteis this not in the UK then? my local counter had heard nothing about it!
ReplyDeleteOh this is so has been... And Dior's new formula and brush don't come close to what they used to be. And Cocteau's saying is absolutely insane. Dior has nothing to do with God or gold...We all know the poor Jean lost it a bit... Can't stand these poor marketing techniques..
ReplyDeletelove the golden shimmer in the polish
