Dior Tuxedo Limited Edition nail polish for Fall 2011 Swatches and Review

"Midnight Blue is for me, a summer black” Christian Dior, 1955.


This fall's new Dior makeup collection, Blue Tie, will carry 3 nail polishes : Tuxedo, Blue Denim and a re-edition Nude Chic / Beige Safari. I've already published a preview of the entire collection here, but today I have Tuxedo to show you.


#219 Nude Chic / Beige Safari (re-edition)
#607 Blue Denim (Bleu Denim)
#908 Tuxedo (Bleu Smoking)


Tuxedo is a beautiful midnight blue shimmer. It applied like a dream and is so pigmented that you could easily get away with one single coat. I don't have Dior Blue Ink to compare it too but my guess is that Tuxedo is lighter, hence the real blue appearance even under low lighting.
This is two coats without topcoat :

Overall :

Opacity really makes Tuxedo outstanding and what it lacks in originality it gains in formula. I really love it, but again, I'm always in for anything vampy. I can't wait to see what Blue Denim looks like.

    It's really lovely, Sam.....I am such a huge fan of Dior's polishes! How would this compare to Illamasqua's 'Phallic'? It seems to me to be quite close! Love your swatches.....superb, as always!

    I was looking forward to seeing these swatches... and I can't wait to see the Blue Denim, too! Have you had a chance to try Beige safari in the past? I haven't, so I'm very curious to know if you have. Loads of kisses from Italy!
