This Summer's new Dior nail polish collection "Electric Tropics" will consist of 2 fluorescent sets : the Catwalk Duos. Two different sets will be available, Aloha and Paradise.
Today I have Aloha, the bright orange one to show you.
Today I have Aloha, the bright orange one to show you.
The Catwalk Duo Set includes a nail polish and a glossy, fast drying glossy topcoat.
Aloha is a very bold fluorescent orange that dries to a shiny finish, maybe not shiny-glossy but definitely not satin like other neons. There are also some very small (shimmer? fluorescent?) particles in it that I believe add shine and bring out the boldness of the shade even more. In terms of formula, I was truly awed!!! You could easily get away with one single easy coat, there was a slight VNL (Visible Nail Line) so I decided to apply a second one but the coverage was almost perfect.
I took a picture with one coat to show you what it looks like, you'll see exactly what I meant : the coverage and shiny finish, the slight VNL,... But you will also see a "grainy" texture, that is not from the nail polish but from the basecoat I use, a ridge filling basecoat, if you use them too, you know that it disappears with topcoat.
Aloha also dried really fast, but not too fast, in order to prevent patchiness, the neons common issue; its consistency allowing you to go over the same spot if you have made some small imperfections.
The fast drying topcoat has a very watery formula, it made me think of drying drops more than of the usual thick fast drying topcoats I use, seche or posche, but it dried really fast too, and to a glossy finish.

In conclusion, I'll say that I really love this set, I've been looking for a neon orange for quite some time now. And Yes the orange is bold but if you like bold then that won't be a problem for you and you'll definitely have a product worth your money.
Now I can't wait to try the other pink Catwalk Duo : Paradise.
wow. WOW. how much did that cost you anyway?!xDDD
ReplyDeleteAloha indeed! This is the perfect welcoming color for the summer. I love Dior!!! And I love your blog!
ReplyDelete@terry Hi Terry, the set will retail around $30 in the US / €30 in Europe.
ReplyDelete@Marionne Thanks Marionne, I think I love it too, or I least I really love posting swatches!!! LOL
Thanks for swatches! Do you know when these will be available in the US?
ReplyDeleteThis will make an amazing pedi! I really want to see Paradise too!
ReplyDelete@L I'd say probably sometime in May but I really couldn't say, Dior hasn't released the info yet.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for the info! Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh! I need the topcoat! :)
ReplyDeletecoool !! ben maintenant reste plus qu'a monsieur le facteur a me le ramener et vite !!!
ReplyDeleteet le rose il me le faut aussi tiens :)
Wow that a stunning red :)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty polishes. I have many other polishes like this.
ReplyDeleteThese have already been released in Denmark but can't remember the prize..
ReplyDeleteHowever, I was wondering about how close the Paradise colour is to Dior's Bublegum polish. In pictures they look so alike.. Do you know, or do have to make a comparison?
These have been released at Nordstroms and Saks in the US, I was able to grab mine today : )
ReplyDeleteI just received a request to comp this color with the new Essie Meet Me At Sunset. Do you own both? What do you say? From you post and my post they look spot on (less the shimmer).
ReplyDelete@AllThingsNails! I don't have Essie Meet Me At Sunset yet but I think it's a bit more red than Aloha. Considering the price tag, I'd say it's a really great alternative either ways. I'll let you know as soon as I can get my hands on a bottle.
ReplyDeletexoxo.
I've heard negative remarks from bloggers and youtubers about wear time with this polish, chipping inless than a day- have you experienced that?
ReplyDeletebrinkka2011 says: I would like to thankyou for such an enlightening post. I dont by and large reply on blogs as I wish to lurk and read. However your style of literature is uncomplicated to understand, I love the fact that it is clear and to the point. I will make sure that I mail your blog to my acquaintances as I am certain they will not only like reading your post but also find it extremely instructive.
