Hammered Steel

First, I want to apoligize for the pictures today because I had to replace my camera so I'm not used to this new one yet...

Yesterday, I felt like playing around with one of the Milani Jewel FX : the silver hex glitter; I wanted to see how many coats it would take to reach full opacity. However, it got late somehow so I decided to just apply one coat of it over one coat of China Glaze Cheers to you and then finish today. Well that was before I knew I'd have to run errands all day... so I ended up feeling horribly self concious because I didn't intend to wear gleaming silver as a full many in broad day light.

2 coats of Jewel Fx
3 coats of Jewel Fx
All the pics are taken with top coat.
I know the pictures with the Jewel Fx bottle look blurry but that's actually because the hex glitters were reflecting too much light!!!

Althought the 3 coats hammered silver mani would be cool for NYE or for a party, I think I actually prefer the (subtle?) look with just one coat  glitter, but maybe over a different base color too.

What do you think? Did you get any of these new Milanis?
Have you ever felt self concious over a manicure?

    This looks awesome! I wish they would sell this one at CVS. I love it even more than the Gold. Rock your silver nails no matter the time!

    Ooooooh! Don't fear the bling! Although I totally understand being self conscious! When I did my nails with the Sally Hansen Salon Manicure in the houndstooth patten I attracted a lot of attention...although it was fun I did get a little tired of being a walking Sally Hansen commercial lol!

    Nah, I'm never self-conscious over a manicure. On New Year's Eve I wore a particularly blingy one (for me, at least) to a party with a lot of my boyfriend's friends whom I had never met. An old British professor was chatting with me when he looked down at my hands and said, "My, your fingernails are quite gaudy!" I thought it was adorable. He was quick to back-pedal and tell me they were also event appropriate. Too cute.

    Yea, that actually happens a lot (feeling self conscious), especially at work. I have the Milani one coat glitter in Silver Dazzle and I wouldn't wear it to work, and even outside of work, I'd think I was drawing attention with my nails.
