Mad dripping mani

Today, as promised, birthday mani day...
First, there's something you should know about me, I don't know how it happens but almost everytime I go out with my friends, I have dark nail polish on my nails, be it black, purple, blue, green, grey, whatever... always dark.
To their "non-insider" eye, it always looks the same, so lately I've been trying to do my best to do differentely. This time, I wanted something sparkly but I didn't feel like wearing glitter all over my nails, it felt like too much; on my tips, it felt wiered so instead I went for a dripping manicure.
Please bear in mind that I made this manicure in 5 minutes top, with my phone ringing and my friends waiting for me, I thought I'd have the whole day to do it but one thing lead to the other and when it was time to leave, I had nothing but base coat on !!!

Now, it might not translate on the picture but they were really sparkly, I loved wearing this mani and I had compliments all night.
On the second, blurry, pic I tried to show the glitter a little bit but it's hard to capture.

I used China Glaze millenium, that dries in a flash and OPI Mad as a hatter (which I applied in the restaurant with my hand under the table), I passed on it at first and then I had to hunt it down a few weeks ago when I felt the urge to possess it.

You can use any color combination you like, I find this one is very wintery and I really wanted to use silver with mad as a hatter because it really matched my jewelry but I can totally picture it with Chinas Glaze Party Hearty's red and green glitter for christmas, or with one of the glitters from the burlersque collection, blue, green, gold, pink, you name it.
I'll try and post a few color combination in the next few days.

Here's a quick step by step :

1. using a non glittery nail polish, draw the dripping design
2. fill the tip of your nail with the same polish
3. first coat of glitter
4. second coat pf glitter
5. finish with 1 or 2 coats of top coat

That's it, you're done, it couldn't be easier...

So what do you think?
What would you go for as a glittery manicure whith 5 minutes ahead of you?

That's it for today, thanks for all your kind words and stay tuned for my next post, I'll have something not quite as exclusive as yesterday's Chanel collection but almost !!!

  3. I love the look of this mani - can you describe how you did it? Did you really just drip it off the end of the brush, or was there more to it?

  19. Thanks sooo much for your tutorial. I am terrible at applying polish on my own because I have very shaky hands. I suspect I would take 5 minutes per nail instead of 5 minutes for the entire manicure =)
